Belluard Festival will offer the audience a deeper insight into the work and practice of a specially invited artist. It is with pleasure that we launch this new aspect of our programme with the actor, writer, visual artist and stage director Rabih Mroué who is one of Lebanon’s leading contemporary artists. In his performances, installations and videos he explores universal themes such as memory and the construction of identity. His work shifts frequently between reality an fiction while questioning the role of the spectator, the social significance of the actor and forms of representation. During the first weekend of the festival he opens his solo exhibition set up in collaboration with Fri Art (see exhibition), presents the Swiss premiere of his newest theater work Riding on a Cloudand the lecture performance Probable Title: Zero Probabilityand joins, as actor, the French filmmaker Eric Baudelaire in Cinema Rex to introduce the film The Ugly One.
We also offering audiences a chance to speak directly with Rabih Mroué on Sunday 29 June
