WallRiss Artspace and BBI introduce the work of the young Cameroonian photographer Patrick Wokmeni. In Cameroon, there is an expression «more than one youth has blood in the eye,» which reflects the determination with which each person attempts to combat their daily lives, ready for anything – or at least attempting to not go under. Born and bred in New Bell, the most popular and populated district of Douala, it is the lens through which Patrick Wokmeni sees the world. His favorite subject: night-time in Douala, stalking and recording attitudes that surround him. Between drunkenness and lucidity, snapshots reveal a Cameroonian society of post-independence between despair and progress.
