Since their formation in 1999, Abattoir Fermé seeked to radically separate themselves from contemporary Flemmish tendencies. This small company from Malines has thus developed a theatrical style all their own, wild and derranged. Galapagos, a strange production with a young woman and a bizarre biologist exihibits Abbatoir Fermé’s partiality for grotesque, paranoid deliriums and sexual fantasies. With a particularily small budget, the play often mirrors David Cronenberg’s horror flicks. Galapagos’s content is raw, the actors unforgettable. Without a doubt, we will remember this frail girl emerging as a candid dominatrix, a million sadomasochistic games up her sleeve.
